Blame Akufo Addo For Coronavirus In Ghana-Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has said that he is of the firm conviction that Ghana would not have recorded any case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease if the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had ordered the closure of the country’s borders much earlier.
Ghana’s case count of the global pandemic is 641 with eight deaths and 83 recoveries.
The government through the Health agencies have embarked on rigorous testing of the disease – 50,000 tests have so far being conducted.

Several contact tracing is being embarked on by the government as part of efforts to deal with the country.

Public gatherings have been banned in the country with the Greater Accra Region, Kasoa and some parts of Kumasi on a partial lockdown.
All these measures, Ken Agyapong speaking on Net 2 TV said are commendable and called on Ghanaians to emulate.

He is however of the conviction that the country would not have recorded a single case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) if the President had caused the country’s borders to be shut a week earlier.
“All the efforts aimed at combating the disease are commendable and ought to be observed. Looking at what is happening in America and other countries, we can say we are lucky and the Lord has been good to us. I am certain the country wouldn’t have recorded a single case if we had shut our borders even a week earlier…,” he said.

Similar view has been expressed several opposition leaders including Ranking member of the Health Committee in Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The Juaboso MP advocated the closure of the country’s borders much earlier.
“When you draw the attention of the government to some of the happenings, Akufo-Addo does not listen. Inasmuch as I was among those who agitated for the government to bring back Ghanaian students in China, it is also on record that I also told the government to close the airport and if even they cannot close it, then they should ensure that all travellers through the airport are quarantined. I cited the President as an example that he and his entourage should be quarantined when they came back from Norway,” he said at the time.
