Black Stars lack an inspirer on the field

Former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah has expressed that the Black Stars have no player to spur the team on when things are getting difficult.

Black Stars have drawn their last two competitive games: were held to a 1-1 draw against Rwanda and settled for a goalless draw last week Friday by Uganda in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

Stephen Appiah who was the skipper of the Black Stars teams that played in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup has indicated that Ghana need an inspirational figure on the field

“When the going get tough for the team, there must be at least a player who will stand up and push the others on. I don’t see that in the team now,” Appiah told Kessben FM

“Apart from Asamoah Gyan, most of the other players are graduates of the 2010 U20 World Cup winning side. So it seems they see themselves as equal so there is no specific player spurring the rest on,” he added.
