BECE Starts Today With A Call On Candidates To Remain Confident And Firm

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commences throughout the country today June 13, 2016, with a goodwill message from the Minister of Education, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman.

She has therefore, encouraged all candidates writing the Examinations (BECE) to remain confident, firm, and conduct themselves in ways that is dignified and commendable as they go through the exams, which commences from today, Monday June 13 to Friday June 17.

“The rules and regulations governing the examinations have all been explained to you; just follow them and entertain no plans of deviating from them”, and “there is nothing more important than success that comes through your own efforts,” she said.

Wishing the BECE candidates a resounding success in a goodwill message at a ceremony in Accra last Friday, she said the various players in their training who include government, their families, care-givers, as well as their teachers, who cares about them have played their roles as expected of them and they now look forward to very good outcomes of the examinations.

Prof Opoku Agyeman, said she is confident in the ability of candidates to succeed, with the conviction that they have all applied themselves diligently to their studies and used their time prudently, and as a result prepared adequately for the examinations.

She urged the candidates to cooperate with their supervisors and invigilators to ensure that the needed serene atmosphere is created and maintained throughout the period of the examinations.

About 438,048 candidates from 14,267 public and private junior high schools (JHSs) will sit the BECE across the country at 1,598 centres.

The number represents an increase of 35,966 over last year’s figure of 392,082.

The candidates are made up of 239,963 males and 221,050 females
