Bawumia urges Ghanaians in diaspora to invest in economy

Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia is urging the Ghanaian diaspora to support the socio-economic development of the country by investing in micro, medium and large-scale enterprises.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, at the Ghana Diaspora Homecoming Summit held on Friday, the Vice President said such investment will create jobs and generate income in local communities.

“We urge all Ghanaians in the diaspora to support the socio-economic development of the country by investing in the micro, medium and small enterprises which can be a highly effective way of creating jobs and generating incomes in the local communities” he said.

“Two years ago the United Nations issued a call to action to eradicate poverty and hunger and reduce social and economic inequality in all forms under the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, it is, therefore, the policy of the current administration to work hard to ensure that the 2030 agenda is achieved”, he added.
