Baba Jamal Retracts ‘’I Fully Support the Pardon for the Montie 3’’

The Member of Parliament for Akwatia and Dep. Minister of Labour and Employment Baba Jamal who has come under attack from his own people after saying he doesn’t support the release of the Montie 3 has now retracted his claims, saying, he will support the President if he pardons the Montie 3, Ghanapubliceye.com reports.

Baba Jamal made a statement on Starr FM and re-affirmed his claims on Okay FM this morning but after his statement, the Editor in Chief of the Informer Newspaper Andy Kamkam and the Dep. General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress Mr. Koku Anyidoho also called into the program and issued their disappointments in the statement of the Deputy Minister.

According to Mr. Koku Anyidoho, Baba Jamal’s stands is a clear disrespect to the National Executives of the party since he should have known his party National Executives had earlier released a statement on this issue and so going contrary to what your National Executives have said is indiscipline. After Anyidoho has spoken, Hon Baba Jamal called into the program and reframed his statement.

According to Hon Baba Jamal, he thinks that, his comrades have gotten him wrong and he needs to explain himself further.

‘’I don’t think I said, if the President releases or pardon them, it will amount to interference of the judicial process. I was only saying that, morally, in order for no one to stand anywhere and claim the President is interfering in the judicial process, he should be careful if he does it.

That was my opinion. But that notwithstanding, I will fully support the President if he pardons the Montie 3. Who told you I wouldn’t be happy if the President does that? I will 100% support the President because, I still believe the punishment for the 3 were too much. Moreover, Mugabe is my brother.

We are all Mossi people, and even if he wasn’t my brother, I wouldn’t be happy seeing anybody receive this punishment from the court. Who will not be happy if the President pardons his or her jailed family member? I want to categorically state it here, I am in support of the pardon any day, any time and I entreat the President to do so since the Constitution gives him that power. ‘’ Baba Jamal indirectly retracted.
