‘Baamu Yada’ Demo Was a Total Flop – NDC

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Raymond Tando has emphatically stated that the recent ‘Baamu Yada’ – an Hausa expression which literally means ‘We won’t agree’ demonstration pioneered by NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka ‘Chairman Wontumi’ in the region against the EC was a total failure.

The demonstration included the Ashanti Regional branch of the NPP, the organizers of the demonstration in collaboration with Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Movement for Change (MFC) and Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG).

Its main purpose was to pressurize the EC to conduct the validation exercise as soon as possible for names of dead persons, minors and foreigners, to be removed from the current bloated voters’ register to ensure free and fair polls this year.

Raymond Tando indicated in an interview on OKAY FM’s morning show ‘Ade Akye Abia’ that “most individuals who joined the demonstration were not members of the party, neither were they from the Ashanti Region, because I realized most persons boarded vehicles after the demonstration to their various destinations.”

“In any case this place is their strong hold where they usually get greater percentage of their votes from, therefore I was expecting the demonstration to be the best amongst all the demonstrations they have ever embarked on , but it turned to be the worst off all their demonstrations which to me was a total flop,” he told Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie on Okay FM.

He noted that the EC is an independent body which needs that self-governing authority to do its work, so members of the NPP believing themselves of not having any campaign message should stop harassing the commission.

Authorities of the EC, according to him in every IPAC meeting well explain themselves to the understanding of all party representatives present as to why they have taken certain decisions and steps taken towards the 7th November elections.

“We the NDC have our total hope in the EC as a state institution and an independent body who would do a good job in the coming polls,” he lamented.
