Though he has twice been beaten in the boxing ring, it seems this time, Michael Ayitey Powers, has found his strength outside the ring to technically knockout his friend, but boxing opponent, Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku, with a well-crafted campaign song, for President John Dramani Mahama.

This follows an earlier video message he issued to endorse the candidature of the President for the upcoming elections in November.

The Twi song is in both audio and video. It has since gone viral, especially on social media, with many people describing it as a very beautiful piece, compared to Banku’s, who calls himself “Africa Mayweather”.

Whiles ,Banku’s video, has been described as irresponsible with some gnashing their teeth anytime it is shown, Powers modestly shows a video of him in the studio recording the song.

Indeed, shunned his friend’s poor dressing, vulgarity and indecent behavior to mentioned specific achievements of President Mahama, which puts him miles ahead of his challenger.

Ayitey Powers, who shot to fame few years ago, because of his much-publicized showdown with local champion, Bukom Banku in a boxing bout, introduces the song with his name and that of President Mahama, describing him as a performer, who has fulfilled his 2012 campaign promises, hence the need to retain him.

The Australian returnee, who laced his twi song with Pidgin English, cited projects such as the Free Community Day Senior High School (SHS), the Kwame Nkrumah and Kasoa Interchanges, the Accra- Kumasi Highway, and the fixing of the power crisis popularly known as “dumsor”, as some of the projects, the President has delivered.

He then goes ahead to mention the various regions and adds the 2012 campaign catch slogan, John Mahama edey bi, NDC edey bi, with one of the party’s slogans, Eye zu, eye za.

Bukom Banku, was the first to make a song to support the president’s yet to start campaign, but issues bothering on the boxer, has sent shivers down the spines of some, with many watchers expressing grave concerns about how his art, might negatively affect the image of a president, who is always careful about his image and choice of words.

In Bukom Banku’s song, which has also gone viral, he gives a stern warning to his friend and opponent Powers, to desist from insulting the president, who he refers to as his “father”.

Bukom Banku, has within a short period of time, bleached his whole body, claiming it was one of his wives who advised him to change his skin colour. He now looks very pale.

Before the concerns over his bleaching could disappear, Bukom Banku, was seen performing the song with the beats from the Vodafone Ghana Music (VGMA) hilife artist of the year, Bisa Kdei’s “Brother Brother” by unthinkably removing his shirt and pulling down the back of his boxer shorts to display his buttocks to the displeasure of many.

On the same video, he also squeezes his manhood, appeared confused as he jumps about and sits on the ground all in the name of campaigning for the president. His whole performance lacked coordination and finesse.

As if possessed, Bukom Banku, was in the news again last week, for all the wrong reasons. He was seen in a new video fondling the breasts of underage girls at a restaurant at Nord C, Korle-Gonno.

His action has raised eyebrows with women activists, calling for his arrest.

Banku, who is also into comedy, but has failed to pursue his boxing career internationally, is said to be very popular with some control over the densely populated fishing community of Bukom.

Many have expressed concern about the sudden attitude of the boxer, especially over his skin-bleaching and vulgar language, but he is not bothered. He only served a notice he won’t stop bleaching, until President Mahama, who he calls his “father” publicly tells him to stop.
