On this day, I wish my mother, Anastasia Obeko is alive.

When I walked out of my house today to attend the 14th Graduation ceremony of the African University College of Communications (AUCC), I merely walked to graduate as a student of the institution.

Even though I have followed my academics with all the seriousness it deserved, and was mindful of my performance, I was not with much expectations on this day.

While on my way, I remembered the day I walked into that institution to secure admission. I remembered the everyday evening classes after work. I remembered the challenging assignments and group works that appears the very hallmark of this noble institution. They were all moments I cherished.

I reflected on the friends I made in that institution. I remembered how, as a Speaker of the SRC Congress of AUCC, I had to take tough decisions in conducting the businesses of the House. I knew some may not be happy with me, but I was happy and I am happy with myself for all I did.

So as I walked and joined my college graduands, all I knew was to graduate and walk away with my Class which I knew of.

When I was handed the Graduation brochure, I quickly opened to the page which captured students to be awarded. Then tears run down my face. On this day, I realized that the seed sown by my mother many years ago for which she never lived to enjoy, is flourishing.

I was slated for two awards which were eventually handed to me. I was awarded AUCC Award as BEST STUDENT FOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS and EIB Group Award as the MOST OUTSTANDING STUDENT, SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES.

I couldn’t have asked for anything more than this. God has been so good to me and I dedicate this awards to His Glory and to the Memory of my beloved late mother, Anastasia Obeko.

I wish to thank all who made my stay on campus and its successes possible. I wish to thank also, those who made it to the school today to support my graduation and the receipt of these awards. And to my friends and colleagues who took time to celebrate me on all media networks, I say a big thank you to you all.
