ASAWASI NDC GROUP PAYS GHC 20,000 TO BUY NOMINATION FORMS FOR JOHN MAHAMA

A National Democratic Congress (NDC) group from Asawasi in the Ashanti Region has besieged the National Headquarters of the political party in Adabraka to pick forms for the former President to contest the party’s flagbearer position.

The group which was led by one Nuredeen Hamdan, a Youth Organiser of the party in the constituency said that they came to pick the nomination forms in fulfillment of a promise made to the former President that they will buy forms for him.

An amount of GHC 20,000 was paid for the forms by the group which believes the former President must be made to contest to lead the party once again.

Nurudeen insisted that they came to pick the forms for Mahama because he undertook several developmental projects for the constituency when he was President.

They therefor paid for the forms in appreciation of his ‘good works’.

Some grassroot supporters of the NDC have on Monday, 3 November 2018 queued at the office of former President John Dramani Mahama at Cantonments, Accra to contribute their little to fund the former president’s GHS400,000 filing fee.

This comes as MPs4Mahama, a group of 96 Minority Members of Parliament who have declared their support for Mr Mahama’s bid to run for the NDC flag bearer slot ahead of the 2020 general elections, has so far mobilised 603 pledges of GHS1,000 each towards footing the filing fees of Mr Mahama.

The NDC’s presidential primary is slated for 19 January 2019.
