The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has donated GH¢50,000 to the family of the late Major Maxwell Mahama.

According to Otumfuo, the money is to sponsor the education of the children of the late major.

The money was donated to the family at the Manhyia Palace during a courtesy call by the family of the late major Mahama.
Otumfuor, however, described Major Maxwell Mahama as a gentle soldier who dedicated his life to the service of the country.

The delegation that called on the Asantehene included the family head of Major Mahama, his father and widow, Barbara Mahama.

Otumfuo urged the family to take solace in the fact that God who blessed them with the Major has taken him back.
