Asamoah Gyan agrees to change hairstyle to avoid ban in UAE

Samuel Anim Addo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation says, the Al Ahli striker will make amends to his trademark Mohawk hairstyle before returning to the United Arab Emirates.
The 31-year-old striker is among the 40 players who have been found guilty of ‘an unethical haircut’ according to the laws of the UAE, where they ply their trade.

Anim Addo has disclosed that Asamoah Gyan will get a new hair cut before rejoins Al Ahli for the rest of the current UAE season.

“Asamoah Gyan got that Mohawk hairstyle because of the AFCON and he will cut it before returning to the United Arab Emirates.
“If you have taken notice, any time he is the UAE his hair is down, so that is what he will do when he gets back,” the CEO of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation told Happy FM in Accra.

One of the most significant stories relating to this issue is when Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah was asked by a referee to cut his ‘un-Islamic hairstyle before he was permitted to play.
Asamoah Gyan is on loan to Al Ahli Dubai from Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese topflight league.
