Asamoah Gyamfi dissects Sammy Crabbe

A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Asamoah Gyamfi has said the 2nd Vice Chairman of the party, Mr Sammy Crabbe’s performance as NPP’s Greater Accra Chairman was awful.

According to him, Mr Crabb’s output was so abysmal such that the party was badly ‘bruised’ in the last parliamentary elections.

Mr. Crabbe has been in the news this week challenging the constitutionality of the suspension of the party’s embattled former Chairman, Paul Afoko.

He has refused to recognize Mr. Freddie Blay as Acting National Chairman ever since the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party upheld a decision by the National Council to indefinitely suspend its National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

Mr Crabbe insists Mr Afoko remains the legitimate Chairman of the largest opposition party.

He has also voiced his displeasure about the way the party has been conducting its affairs, threatening not to be part of the “illegality” being perpetuated by the elephant family.

However speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3 FM Thursday, Mr Asamoah Gyamfi stated that Mr Crabbe’s poor showing as a regional manager of the party saw the NPP losing half of its seats in Greater Accra.

“Greater Accra had sixteen (16) parliamentary seats, at the time he was leaving office that number had been halved, we had just eight seats left, that is his record. During his tenure we saw about six (6) constituency chairman contesting sitting MPs, that was a wrong move. But that was possible because Mr Crabbe encouraged them.”

He cautioned Mr Crabbe to desist from preaching tribalism in his public utterances about issue in the NPP.

“I hear him talk about tribalism, about the fact that some elements in the party are conspiring to have him removed because he’s a Ga. He should stop saying that because he has no constituency even among his own fellow tribesmen. From the look of things, no one will have to suspend him, he’ll do that himself. This is because Acting Chairman, Freddy Blay will continue to call meetings and as he (Crabbe) has already indicated he will not attend any such meetings”.

Meanwhile, NPP Communications Director Nana Akomea says Second Vice-Chair Sammy Crabbe’s public rebellion against a party decision should be taken seriously.

Nana Akomea told Joy News, Sammy Crabbe has shown “gross disrespect” towards the party by insisting he does not recognise the decision to suspend its National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

“Sammy Crabbe is setting himself up for disciplinary action,” Nana Akomea maintained.

Sammy Crabbe has been a faithful supporter of Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong since large sections of the grassroots began agitating for their removal from office.
