Another NPP Fraudster arrested

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a man who reportedly duped persons under the pretext of helping them buy auctioned vehicles at the Flagstaff House, the seat of government, or secure accommodation in some parts of Accra.

Police said that the suspect, identified as Nii Afade, managed to convince his victims that he was an official of the Flagstaff House and could, therefore, use his position to help them get the above-mentioned needs.

Briefing the media in Accra on Thursday, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Effia Tenge, said two of the suspect’s victims claimed he had defrauded them to the tune of GH¢12,600.

She said Afade usually drives his victims to the precints of the Presidency to create the impression that he was an official of the Flagstaff House.

According to ASP Tenge, one of the victims claimed he had been looking for accommodation and was contacted by Afade, who posed as an estate agent to help him secure a place.

Afade allegedly led the victim to Dansoman to meet a woman, identified as Salomey Morley, who posed as the landlady of a house and collected GH¢7,200 as rent for two years.

Afade also took GH¢400 from the victim as agent fee. However, when the victim returned with his wife for the key to the room two days later, they realized that they had been swindled.

They reported the matter to the police in Dansoman, and Afade was subsequently arrested.
