Alan joining Nana’s campaign a political gimmick – Political Scientist

socio-political Historian at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr. Adu Gyamfi has described the support being offered by former NPP Presidential aspirant, Alan Kyeremanten to the party’s Flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo on his campaign tour around the country as a political gimmick.

According to him, the move by Alan is cosmetic as it intended to create a sense in the minds of the public that all is well within the party when that is not the case.

The NPP’s three-time Flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo is currently campaigning around the country ahead of the election later this year, in a bid to convince Ghanaians to elect him as President to rule the nation in the next four years.

Visible among the campaign team of Nana Akufo-Addo is the former Minister of Trade, Alan Kyeremateng who fiercely contested Nana Akufo-Addo twice in the party’s presidential primaries. Some political watchers believe all is not well among the two leading personalities of the party.

Speaking to sit-in-host Akwasi Nsiah on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Dr Adu Gyamfi stated that if Ghanaians will vote massively for the NPP, that will not be based on the fact that there appears to be unity between Nana Akufo-Addo and Alan, but because they are under a lot of hardship under the Mahama-led government.

“Alan following Nana around the country on his campaign is just a campaign gimmick. Alan’s involvement is an internal political strategy just to create a certain ambiance for the public to know that internally there is peace between Nana Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyeremanteng. The politics with in the NPP makes this election more dangerous beyond everything, because if they are not able to win the 2016 election, their frustration because of lack of internal cohesion will not place Ghana in a good stead because the consequences will be dire.

“Don’t talk about Alan, I believe that rift lingers on and I see his moving round with Nana Addo as a political gimmick and it doesn’t wash for me as an individual and how I view the NPP because they have not been truthful to themselves. Especially the Asante-Akim hegemony issue confronting the party, they have not allow themselves to say that the future of the party hinges on Bawumia, that thought has not been entertained because of how things have played out in the NPP. If the NPP wins this election, it’s not because Alan Kyeremanten is campaigning with Nana Akufo Addo but because Ghanaians are frustrated by the hardship that they have been plunged into be the Mahama-led administration in the past three years by way of ‘dumsor’ and the harsh economic situation.”
