Akyem youth to chiefs: Boycott Mahama govt

The youth of Akyem in the Eastern Region, have called on the chiefs and queenmothers of the Okyeman traditional area, to boycott all activities involving the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), in their various towns and villages.

Okyeman Youth Association said its boycott urge was a plea rather than a warning to the traditional leaders.

In a statement, Okyeman Youth Association said its members will not tolerate any disrespectful and ungrateful attitude against the Okyehene and Okyeman.

The group’s anger follows criticisms against the paramount chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II over recent comments he made to the effect that Akyems have been sidelined by the Mahama administration.

The Akyem youth said in their statement that: “This is the only government that has been so disrespectful, ungrateful, and unconcerned to the people in Akyem areas and Akyems specifically.”

OKYEMAN YOUTH ASSOCIATION IS CALLING ON ALL CHIEFS FROM AKYEM TO BOYCOTT ALL ACTIVITIES INVOLVING THE NDC IN THEIR VARIOUS TOWNS AND VILLAGES.

The executives and entire membership of Okyeman Youth Association with due respect is calling on our noble Chiefs, queen mothers and traditional leaders to boycott any public activities involving the ruling NDC government.

We are with one voice issuing this statement as a plea and not as a warning to our chiefs, queen mothers and traditional leaders to stand up to defend the Image of Okyeman and its dwellers. Okyeman has played a major role in the formation of Ghana and its road to independence.

We are asking, where was the various political parties when our Kings, Chiefs, Queen Mothers and other traditional leaders were fighting for the Ghana we have today?

We want to bring to the attention of those who have made up their minds to attack Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the entire Okyeman to not forget they met Okyeman. We would no longer tolerate their disrespectful and ungrateful attitude against Okyenhene and Okyeman.

This is the only government that has been so disrespectful, ungrateful and unconcern to the people in Akyem areas and Akyems specifically.

The president of this government stood on a public platform calling Okyeman names with insults such as “Galamsey Headquarters” with some disrespectful characters in their administration also claiming they gave us portable water. We are asking this government where was it when we started drinking Portable water.

Quitr recently, they have again come with another attack on Okyenhene and the entire Okyeman, which we see it as a ploy to attack we the Akyems and dwellers on Akyem lands with a reason best known to this NDC government.

Where is the country’s democracy that other government and past presidents left? We the Akyems have been silent for long.
