Akufo-Addo’s daughter fingered in BOST oil saga

A communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has alleged that one of the daughters of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is deeply involved in the contaminated oil saga at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST).

“I’m hearing rumours that one of Akufo Addo’s daughters, Edwina is deeply involved in the matter so is it the reasons why he is silent? This BOST issue can’t be swept under the matter looking at its gargantuan nature. This is not a matter the president should be silent about” he alleged on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen Programme Friday.

This, he claimed has led to the loud silence of the President on the saga adding that the BOST saga is huge enough to attract the attention of the President.

He stressed that he is tempted to believe rumours that one of President Akufo Addo’s Daughters is deeply involved in the matter.

“Isn’t it surprising and striking to all that the President of this country is silent on this gargantuan fraudulent corruption issue at BOST? The president should break his silence on this matter because it is huge and can’t be overlooked. We should ask the Presidency why,” he said.

The sale of some 5 million litres of contaminated fuel at BOST has been a subject of public discussion in recent weeks with pressure mounting on the Managing Director of BOST, Alfred Obeng to resign.

Mr. Alfred Obeng has rejected calls of resignation insisting of no wrongdoing in the sale of the contaminated fuel to private companies.

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in a statement cleared the MD of any wrongdoing as well.

The report of the BNI have been rejected by Civil Society Organisations (CSO), Occupy Ghana and IMANI which have both called on the President to institute fresh probe into the matter.

Sammy Gyamfi alleged that the President’s silence may communicate his ‘partial involvement’ in the controversial saga.

The NDC Youth Activist opined that it is striking to see once ‘vociferous and corruption’ crusader Akufo Addo going lame on what he describes as gargantuan rape of the public purse.

“Is it the same vociferous Akufo Addo we knew in opposition speaking and fighting against corruption? Why is he silent now? Isn’t he the President? He observed.
