Armed men stormed the office of Nigerian High Commissioner and demolished an apartment block, residing in the capital of Ghana, Accra.
The Armed men stormed the place with bulldozers destroying apartments on the property.
The building was being constructed to house diplomats who will be visiting the high commission.
Report on the ground said the armed men threatened to shoot staff of the embassy who were present at the scene if they interfere in their operations.
The head of security at the high commission, Emmanuel Kabutey, said, the leader of the team that stormed the embassy to have the building destroyed told them they were backed by national security and that “if any of us try,he will clear us off”, Mr. Kabutey indicated.
However,Mr. Kabutey complained about the lackluster attitude of the security operatives handling the situation.
“When the police came they did not come to us or any other person but rather armed men”
” When they came back to the scene,”they took pictures, but did not ask me or any boys anything”, Mr. Kabutey regretted.
The acting Hig Commissioner who was present at the time the incident took place is said to be terrified and had since gone into hiding.
