Akufo Addo to retire from politics by 2020

The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo has hinted that he is contesting as presidential candidate in the 2020 general elections.

He quizzed at his maiden meet the press conference when he attempted to respond a popular social media comment which seems to threaten his government of loosing votes if he ban illegal mining (galamsey) in the country, he said, he has not told anyone that he will be on the 2020 presidential election ballot paper.

This comment from the president clearly indicates his intentions to retire from politics by 2020.

The three term member of parliament and minister has actively participated in the Ghanaian politics in the fourth Republic.

Nana Addo’s comment gives his main opponent, the NDC a very important indication to strategize for the coming elections.

But, this presents a critical challenge to the NPP as they will struggle to select a new candidate which comes with a lot of internal dirty politics.
