Akufo-Addo should have given us the true state of NPP – Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has described as unnecessary the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) version of the State of the Nation address.

According to him, the NPP led by its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo only engaged in political gimmicks in their “desperate attempt to win the November 7 general elections.”

The NPP leader on Monday presented what he called the “Real State of the Nation” after President John Mahama delivered his in Parliament last Thursday.

Nana Akufo-Addo among other things said the President appears to have lost touch with the country he is governing and has thus refused to admit that Ghana is in crisis.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

The NPP leader also presented policy alternatives explaining what an Akufo-Addo government would do if voted to power in the November elections.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Kofi Adams said Nana Addo’s supposed true state of the nation’s address “is a rehash of the same old lies”.

“Nana only spoke English. I didn’t hear anything serious being mentioned in his speech” he added.

Kofi Adams said the NPP leader should have given the country the true state of the party he swore to unite “but is now in shambles.”

“Since Nana became flagbearer, the NPP has been divided leading to the death of two of its activists including its Upper East Regional Chairman, Mahama Adams”.

The NDC National Organizer said Nana Addo should rather focus on bringing back disgruntled members like suspended General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong and suspended Chairman Paul Afoko to the party instead of concentrating on President Mahama.

This notwithstanding, he noted that he does not begrudge Akufo-Addo since “like any other permanent opposition leader, he has the right to comment on issues of national concern”.

Kofi Adams appealed to government not to respond because “the NDC will give him an appropriate response”.

“I will very happy if government does not dignify Nana with any response because he did not say anything”.
