Akufo-Addo running family and friends’ government – Ken Agyapong

Maverick Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has admitted that President Akufo-Addo is running a family and friend’s government.

According to Mr. Agyapong, in spite of such family and friends’ ties with the president, they were men who are more qualified and competent than those in the Mahama-administration.

“I don’t dispute he has family and friends in the government but they are competent. Yes, I admit that President Akufo Addo is running a family-and-friends government but what my NDC people don’t know is that his family is more qualified than Mahama’s people.

“Yes his family members are many but when you check their qualifications, I bet you, they are better than Mahama’s boys,” he said.

Ken Agyapong was speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show, Badwam on Tuesday.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused President Akufo Addo of running a government of family-and-friends.

Mr. Mahama, who was addressing sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the party’s ninth ‘Unity Walk’, held on the grounds of the St. Johns Park in Bolgatanga said President Akufo-Addo has loaded his government with relatives and friends.

But speaking on the matter, the controversial MP said, President Akufo-Addo cannot be blamed for having family members who qualify to be in government.

President Akufo Addo’s families, he noted, are highly educated and that makes them different from Mahama’s.

Kennedy Agyapong indicated that the reason why former President John Mahama could not appoint his family into government, as President Akufo-Addo has famously done, is because, between the two families, one has more educated members who qualify to serve in government under their ‘family and friends’ government.

“Akufo-Addo’s family in government have are highly educated more than Mahama’s boys and that makes them different. Mahama’s family is the richest family in Ghana now because they chose business but Akufo-Addo’s men chose education and that is why Mahama could not even appoint much in his government”, he said
