Akufo-Addo is his own Enemy; His interest is to Control the NPP and not to win the Presidency- Dan Botwe

A former Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party and Member of Parliament for Okere, Honorable Dan Kweku Botwe has stated that, flagbearer of the NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has since 2007 interested himself in acts that suggest that, his prime aim is to control the NPP for a very long time instead of engaging in genuine and productive acts that would have won him the Presidency since 2008. Honorable Dan Botwe, also chastised the delusional and deceptive acts of Akufo-Addo as he pointed out that Akufo-Addo is his own enemy.

Speaking to Kwame Tikesie on Okay Fm’s Morning show program, monitored by Ghanapoliticsonline.com , on Tuesday September 6 2016, the former General Secretary of the NPP who led the party into an electoral victory in 2000 recalled that, by this time in the year 2000, the spirit of victory and Positive change could be felt in and around every nook and cranny of Ghana. Honorable Dan Botwe indicated that, this was made possible because, by now in the year 2000,  past executives of the Dankwa-Dombo-Busia tradition were brought on board by then Presidential candidate John Agyekum Kufour to ensure a genuine Unity call , the humility and hard work of Kufour, among others,  for a resounding electoral victory in 2000.

Honorable Botwe explained how he disagreed with Presidential candidate Kufour on several occasions, but Kufour gave him the space to work peacefully and he was never suspended for the disagreements because, Kufour knew the essence of democracy and tolerance of divergent opinions.

Honorable Dan Botwe indicated that,  Akufo-Addo is the luckiest Flagbearer of the NPP yet Akufo-Addo is his own enemy. According to Honorable Botwe, unlike Akufo-Addo who inherited a united party with a legacy and well resourced machinery, President Kufour inherited an NPP that was poorly organized and in shambles with the likes of Peter Ala Adjetey,  Donkor Fordjour, Akufo-Addo and Co expressing open contempt and malicious disdain against the authority and person of then NPP Flagbearer Kufour  but, Kufour was never vindictive to these avowed enemies of his.

The one time Information Minister under the erstwhile Kufour administration further explained that,  what Akufo-Addo is currently engrossed in does not present him as someone who wants to win elections. Honorable Dan Botwe related that, the sacking of the party’s National Chairman Paul Afoko, it’s General secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong and Co , on the basis of lies and fabrications by Akufo-Addo and his allies was an avoidable orchestra which was pointing to only one aim- seeking total power and control of the party by Nana Akufo-Addo. Honorable Dan Botwe explained how this avoidable damage has dimmed the attractiveness of the party in recent times. Honorable Botwe noted that, examining the misdeeds and transgressions of Akufo-Addo in relation to its rippling effects on the party’s fortunes and future, he was convinced that,  Akufo-Addo is only interested in strengthening his overwhelming chokehold and control of the party rather than winning the Presidential elections. 

Honorable Dan Botwe called on all well meaning party faithfuls of the NPP to be wide awake and begin to discern through the antics and pretentious acts of Akufo-Addo.  Some party members have vowed not to forgive Akufo-Addo should he succeed in keeping the party in a twelve years opposition with others cautioning that, they were not ready to listen to any delusional and discordant voices on blame games from their party’s twice defeated flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
