Akufo-Addo Is A Dictator – Dr Adu-Gyamfi

lecturer at the History and Political Science Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, has labeled the 2016 flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a democratic dictator.

According to the political scientist the speed with which supposed anti-Akufo-Addo elements in the biggest opposition party are suspended from the party for criticizing the leadership style of the twice defeated presidential candidate portends the former Abuakwa South legislator does not accommodate dissenting views.

He said the NPP under Nana Akufo-Addos leadership has now become a party where bigwigs and members with opposing views are not free to air them because they would be dealt with if they dare.

Commenting on recent suspension of NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong and 2nd vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe on Accra-based Class FM, Dr Adu-Gyamfi noted So far as the NPP campaign is concerned, there cannot be any dissenting view in the general political structure of the NPP. Theyve said it, I mean, I think its a democratic dictatorship, thats what they are runningyou cant have a dissenting view, you cant have a dissenting opinion, if you dare have one, you are kicked out, its as simple as that.

He said the seeming intolerance to dissenting views underscore his long-held opinion that if Nana Akufo-Addo is elected President, he will run a government in which only his tribesmen or people close to him will be in the helm of affairs whiles others are shoved aside.

the NPP has the tendency or the proclivity to create an oligarchic state, to an extent that the few will rule and the few will be those who have some traditions with the kingmakers and the kingmakers are the Asantes and Akyems, and then within these kingmakers, the one who is in charge decides to rally his men around and the other side is pushed aside and weve seen that at least within this dispensation. Its quite clear that theres no dissenting view and you cannot have one. If you have a dissenting view, bury it, he stated.
He said the harshness with which the leadership of the NPP silences internal dissent is a harbinger of his forecast.

So far, three national executives of the party: Chairman Paul Afoko, Second Vice-Chairman Sammy Crabbe and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, have been suspended indefinitely for allegedly breaching various provisions of the NPPs constitution.

The three, alleged to be loyalists of former President John Kufuor, and, as a result, pigeon-holed in the Kufuor/Alan Kyeremanten faction, were also suspected to be working against the interest of Nana Akufo-Addos third attempt at the presidency.
