Akufo-Addo intervenes in Bugri Naabu, Otiko ‘feud’

President Akufo-Addo is set to intervene in the bad blood between the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu and Gender Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba.

The two have been in the news since Friday after Mr Naabu in the company of some party sympathisers, disrupted a meeting being organised by the Gender Minister in Tamale.

He accused Ms Djaba of disrespecting his authority by failing to inform him about the meeting, which he believed was a plot to undermine the Presidents’ nominee to head the school feeding programme in the region.

It took the intervention of the police to avoid clashes between supporters of the two.

In her defence, the Gender Minister who is also the National Women’s Organiser of the NPP, said she was in Tamale to meet women groups on behalf of the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo and it had nothing to with the school feeding programme.

She also reportedly accused Bugri Naabu of taking goats, sheep and ‘dawadawa’ from some people with the promise of securing government contracts and appointments.

The unhealthy banter which has brought the party to public ridicule has reportedly come to the attention of President Akufo-Addo who was out of the country.

According to reports, the President after being briefed about the incident has personally summoned the Northern Regional Chairman and the Gender Minister and summoned to the Flagstaff House to explain their actions.
