Akufo Addo is on an excursion in the Volta Region, not a campaign tour – Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo’s presence in the Volta Region to come ahead of the December 7 general elections, will not yield any significant results.

According to him, the people of the area which is the NDC stronghold “World Bank” are appreciative of the development that have been brought to the area under the Mahama led administration are ready to vote massively to retain President John Mahama as President.

The three-time Presidential candidate begun his 5-day tour of the Volta Region on Monday, October 24.

This will be the 2nd time this year that the three-time Presidential candidate will tour the region – a region for which the NPP has set an agenda of capturing at least 3 seats in parliament and 30% of the popular vote.

Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to visit a total of 15 constituencies, which will include visits to South Dayi, Kpando, Krachi East, Nkwanta North, Hohoe, Ho Central, North Tongu, amongst others.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Eko Si Sen show Monday, Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito described Nana Akufo Addo’s campaign in the region as embarking on an excursion in the area, adding that with the kind of work the government has done in the region, the former Attorney General should not bank his hopes on votes from the area.

“Voltarians will vote in this election based on the kind of development that they have seen in their area, As for Nana Akufo Addo, he’s allowed to go for an excursion in the Volta Region, I’m sure while there, he’ll see the beautiful roads and the sort of development the Mahama-led administration has brought to the area later, which will make him want to go there again. One of the best roads in that region was constructed by the Burkinabe contractor, Kanzoe, who the NPP was accusing of giving President Mahama a Ford car bribe. Let the NPP continue to make noise about the alleged bribe, the people who are benefiting from the road will act accordingly by voting for the NDC come December 7.”
