Agriculture remains major tool to reducing poverty – Deputy Minister

The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in charge of crops, Dr. Ahmed Yakubu Alhassan, says agriculture remains a major governmental tool aimed at reducing poverty in the rural areas.

According to the Deputy Minister, studies indicate that the increase in agricultural production corresponds to the reduction in poverty as compared to other sectors of the economy.

He said this is the reason why the agricultural sector has been a priority to government over the years.

Dr. Yakubu Alhassan said this at the 7th National Food and Agricultural show FAGRO in Accra.
