Afram Plains South Executives NDC Confirms Kevor Mark-Oliver’s Candidature

The Afram Plains South Constituency executives of the NDC have come out to confirm the candidate of Kevor Mark-Oliver as the Parliament Candidate of the NDC contrary to reports that the party filed a different candidate.

In a statement signed and copied to GhanaPoliticsonline.com, The executives said the decision was made in consultation with the regional and national executives.

Below is the full text of their press statement.

PRESS STATEMENT BY AFRAM PLAINS SOUTH CONSTITUENCY EXECUTIVES OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS.
As we all know, our incumbent Member of Parliament who was re-elected by our rank and file to lead us into election 2016 stepped down some few hours before the close of nominations by the Electoral Commission on Friday September 30, 2016.
As a result, Regional Executives in consultation with we the Constituency Executives, National Executives and the incumbent MP unanimously endorsed the Regional Secretary, Kevor Mark-Oliver as our new Parliamentary Candidate to replace Hon. Joseph Appiah Boateng.

Ladies and gentlemen, as executives in the constituency, we took into consideration Hon. Kevor’s strong ties with the constituency in arriving at our decision.
Hon. Kevor Mark-Oliver hails from Dedeso, a town within this constituency. He has properties within this constituency and has supported the Constituency’s political activities on countless occasions. Kevor Mark-Oliver contested with Hon. Joseph Appiah Boateng in the 2012 Parliamentary primaries.
We were therefore without any doubt about his legitimacy and qualification when National and Regional Executives consulted us.

Ladies and gentlemen, without mincing words, it is public knowledge that Mr. Eric Osei Owusu is behind all the woes of our incumbent MP. In fact, we know he sponsored all the media attacks and the serial legal actions against our incumbent MP so he can push him out of the way and become our next candidate.
But as the biblical sayings goes: It is only God’s blessings that propers mankind, for man toils in vain. God in His own wisdom and greatness had prepared a neutral person for us in the midst of our hopelessness upon the last minute withdrawal of our incumbent MP’s candidature.

Ladies and gentlemen, with just sixty-five (65) days to the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, we the Constituency Executives having consulted majority of our branch executives, are united behind our new Parliamentary Candidate, Kevor Mark-Oliver after our consultations with National and Regional Executives.

Ladies and gentlemen, for the avoidance of doubt, Afram Plains South NDC has only ONE PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE in the person of KEVOR MARK-OLIVER as was officially and publicly announced by the District Returning officer at the close of nominations on Friday 30th September, 2016. Our Candidate filed alongside the NPP and CPP Candidates after close of nominations. We are cautioning the EC to safeguard its integrity by not engaging in any clandestine move to admit the forms of any Candidate who was unsuccessful in filing within the statutory period.

We will resist any attempt by some few people who don’t have the constituency at heart to cause confusion in the constituency. Afram Plains South has suffered enough politically and is about time to move on.
Kevor Mark-Oliver is our Parliamentary Candidate for Afram Plains South Constituency and it remains just as such.
Any attempt to overturn this will mean a total collapse of the NDC in the constituency. As a party, we should be mindful of the fact that we risk losing the seat if we don’t listen to the voice of majority of the people of Afram Plains South including our revered Chiefs and opinion leaders who are present here with us.

We thank you all for your kind attention and may God bless us all!!!
