Adjei Tawiah chickens out of NPP Klottey-Korle primary
Citi News has gathered that one of the aspirants in the upcoming Klottey-Korle primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nii Adjei Tawiah, has chickened out of the race ostensibly to support Philip Addison, another aspirant.

Nii Adjei Tawiah was the party’s candidate on two occasions, in 2008 and 2012 but lost to the NDC’s Nii Ashietey Armah, who’s the current MP.

The party is holding a re-run of the primary this Saturday, following a court order which indirectly compelled it to take the decision.

Philip Addison and Nii Adjie Tawiah went to court to seek a cancellation of the primary won by Nii Nor Nortey last year, because in their view, the election was a sham.

In the previous primary, Nii Adjei Tawiah came 3rd polling just 19 votes, while Philip Addison managed a meager 22 votes. Nii Noi Nortey led with 393 votes.

Mr. Addison has told Citi News he has what it takes to lead the party in the area and supporters of his opponents have also moved to his side thus boosting his hope of emerging victorious.

His main contender and winner of the earlier primary, Nii Noi Nortey, has decided to contest despite his refusal previously.
