To improve mathematics and science education, the Ministry of Finance has given clearance for 2,500 new Science and mathematics teachers to be recruited for the basic level.
President Mahama announced this while speaking on GBC’s Sunrise fm in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
He said the move is part of measures to address some of the country’s educational challenges, adding that government is not concentrating on tertiary education to the detriment of basic education.
The President reiterated that government is working hard to eliminate schools under trees by 2020, adding that the process is continuous.
